Why Sleeved & Slabbed exists
Two things make buying cards frustrating: not knowing what condition you're actually getting, and not knowing what a shop will pay you until you've already driven there. We built the shop around fixing both.
We publish the standard we grade to
“Near Mint” means something different at every table you shop at, which is exactly why it stopped meaning anything. We condition every raw single against the published TCGplayer standard, the same one the big marketplaces use, and we write down what we found. When a card is Lightly Played because of a specific scuff, the listing says so.
For graded cards we go one better: the cert number is on the listing, linked straight to the grader's own lookup. You can verify a slab is what we say it is before you spend a cent, without taking our word for anything.
We publish what we pay
Our buy listis a page on this website, not a conversation you have to start. You can look at it in your pyjamas, work out whether the box in your wardrobe is worth the drive, and decide. If it isn't worth it, we'd genuinely rather you found that out from your sofa.
Sometimes the honest answer is that you shouldn't sell to us at all — a card that will do far better at auction, or one worth grading before it changes hands. We'll tell you that. A shop that only ever tells you to sell isn't a shop you come back to.
The tables are the actual business
Singles pay the rent, but the reason a card shop exists is that people need somewhere to play. Our tables are free whenever we're open, event or no event, and the calendar runs the same way every week so you can plan around it. We start on time. We keep loaner decks behind the counter for anyone who wants to try something without buying in first.
If you've been put off by shops where everyone already seemed to know each other and the rules — that's a failure of the shop, not of you. Come to a Learn to Play night. Nobody there will know what they're doing either.
